Oscar Pistorius
So Oscar Pistorius was handed a 5 year sentence for killing Reeva Steenkamp but potentially he could only have to spend 10 months in Jail and the rest on house arrest.
Personally, I think if this was not a famous person they'd be serving a minimum of 10 years in prison and you can only feel sorry for Reeva's family seeing that her life is only worth 10 months so to speak.
What's your guys opinions?

Re: Oscar Pistorius
No it isn't, manslaughter is one below murder. However he should've been found guilty of murder.

No it isn't.
Manslaughter is accidental death. Murder is with intent. Whole world of difference.
Assuming the jury is 100% correct in their assumption of manslaughter, then it was an accidental death. If you accidentally killed someone with a miss thrown dart in a game (humor me here, lol) you wouldn't expect to get life in prison for it, when it wasn't a thing that was supposed to happen.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
Yes well the issue wasn't over him killing someone on the other side of the bathroom door, it was over who he believed was behind the door. I don't know what the law is over this in SA but in some countries you are allowed to defend your homes with force if necessary and that is what he says he believed he was doing.
Regardless, 5 years with the possibility of him being allowed out after 10 months in prison is far too lenient.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
Apparently he could be out after 10 months and serve the rest of his sentence under house arrest.
Re: Oscar Pistorius
Yep, a few years under house arrest in a luxury mansion. Sounds terrible doesn't it?
And just FYI, there was no jury involved in this case. The verdict and sentence were entirely down to the judge.
