Re: Monaco Appeals
I know I'm not a steward, however...
0:40: Would be very controversial to give the winner of such a hard fought race a penalty. Looks like his fault but it cost him quite a lot of time too.
1:18: it's well known that you don't try to overtake in the tunnel without expecting consequences.
2:10: Racing incident, if anything Will has the racing line.

Re: Monaco Appeals
In the tunnel Ben was right up against the barrier the whole time and the red bull seemed to move over on him

Re: Monaco Appeals
I think the only one we could look into is the one in the tunnel mate as i think the first and last ones where racing incidents.

Re: Monaco Appeals
the red bull moves over because that's where the racing line is, it's very difficult to take a tight line through the tunnel without losing a lot of time. He let ben through after as well.

Re: Monaco Appeals
With the tunnel incident, look at Alonso in 2004. Ross is right, it would be inevtiable that an incident would happen BUT he could of given you some room

Re: Monaco Appeals
Guys appeal has been made, next FIA this will be reviewed and that's the deal. No point going on and on.

Re: Monaco Appeals
Lol don't want to cause an argument gents. I'm not really sure what would warrant an appeal or not generally. Anything where in real life the stewards would have a look at I'll put here - happy to take any steer. Fine by me whiteside in terms of the incidents - I think most of the time I'm looking for clarification where I'm not sure if something warrants an appeal or not.

Re: Monaco Appeals
I like having these debates, it's interesting how people can see the same incident in different ways. It would be interesting to see the first one from barwell's point of view

Re: Monaco Appeals
I apologise that we collided Ben, ill post my footage up later, I did slow down a lot after the incident to let you back past because I didn't know who was at fault

Re: Monaco Appeals
I had a feeling this would come up,, I do apologise for the incident dave and I hope there's no hard feelings over it, however, I would just like to point something out in the rules:
13. Drivers must be fair when defending against an overtaking car. A defending driver, as per real-life motorsport, is allowed to make one distinct direction change to defend their position and thwart an overtake. Once it is then clear you're being overtaken, make sure that you leave an adequate car's width for your competitor. Drivers should not unfairly squeeze their fellow racers - whether it be off track, or into walls.
As you can see in the video it shows that I was squeezed into the barrier and had nowhere to go (even though dave had plenty of room to his left) and yes somebody told me that because I was the car chasing I should of anticipated dave braking, however, in my opinion, if dave was a little bit more aware of where my car was positioned coming into the hairpin and if he gave me a little bit more room then the incident wouldn't of happened in the first place.

Re: Monaco Appeals
surely to qualify as an "overtaking car" you'd have to be....y'know....overtaking? there's no way you were ever going to get past him there. Not necessarily saying that it warrants a penalty, but I don't think that daveh can be blamed

Re: Monaco Appeals
No I'm not saying I was going for the overtake,, I was referring to the last part of the rule, he just needed to be more aware of where my car was positioned coming into the corner, if he allowed me a little bit more room on the outside instead of squeezing me into the barrier we wouldn't of made contact

Re: Monaco Appeals
No hard feelings barwell. I always take a wide line round the casino and no you were never going to pass me. It is however the responsibility of the overtaking car to make a safe pass, i know I was slow but when the real boys are behind a slower car then they have to be patient, anticipate the slower car may not be as good on his breaks and wait for a safe opportunity to arise. No hard feelings anyway. See you all tonight #revenge
