André Lotterer to drive for Caterham at Spa.
Three-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner Andre Lotterer will replace Japan's Kamui Kobayashi at Caterham for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix. Lotterer, 32, has never raced in Formula 1 but the German did have a spell as Jaguar's test driver in 2002.
A Caterham team statement did not indicate how many races Lotterer would contest but did say Kobayashi "still remains part of the team".
Lotterer will partner regular Caterham driver Marcus Ericsson at Spa.
A Caterham statement read: "Lotterer will replace Kamui Kobayashi for this round of the championship.
"The team will benefit from having another experienced driver at the wheel of the car throughout the weekend and the German's feedback will contribute to improve the performance of the car."

According to a few people on Twitter that know inside knowledge of Formula One, i.e. Not what the average fan would know, claim that Caterham wanted Lotterer as the conditions at Spa would suit him
Caterham may be looking at the possible weather forecast, however it's going to be Raining on Saturday, and a Sunny Sunday.
Now this is only a 1 race contract, although it does suggest that Caterham are very interested in Lotterer..However he's contracted at Audi.
Having seen Lotterer race at Le Mans quite a lot, he's a very talented Endurance Racer, but will this help in Formula One?
My initial thoughts on this is that Caterham are fed up with 22nd placed Kobayashi and just thought, "F**k it, I choose you"..(Pokémon Reference..Please sue me xD)
It's just nice to see a WEC driver get the chance to show his talent as the WEC is sort of a 'feeding' tier. I.e Fisichella, B.Senna, etc. Went from F1 there. So it's nice to see it reversed in that F1 teams are looking to the WEC platform for experienced drivers.
Anyway, What do you guys think about this?

I think it's a joke to be honest and a Insult to Kamui.
They say the team will benefit from another experienced driver but he's not experienced in F1 so it's just stupid.

Swapping Ericsson out for him, yeah I could get that, but Kobayashi actually has race experience and podiums to his name.

Do Caterham actually look at the conditions Japanese drivers race in in their homeland? Makes a shower at Spa look like a picnic. Variable weather conditions my arse...
