Pre-Season Test Race - August 9th

With the new AL3 season start looming, we've decided to have a pre-season test race at Silverstone on the 9th of August. I encourage all AL3 members to participate, to get a feel of racing a 100% race with other people, as some of you may not have done this before; And the car will feel quite different to any other race length.

This will have no bearing on the league in terms of points etc, it's purely friendly in order to get ready for the leagues start.

I encourage anyone who is able to attend to do so, it should be good fun and give you all some insight as to what to expect over the coming few weeks.

Please leave a post in here if you think you may be able to attend, just to get an idea of the numbers and who to invite on the day.

Also as a side note, if you have the ability to record the race, be it with a capture card, video camera - whatever; I strongly recommend you do so, as it's a good habit to get into for league races, as if you have an incident on track that you wish to appeal, you cannot do so without footage to maintain fairness.

Also gonna try and get some badass race edits done too.

Remember guys after qualifying there is a five minute break so do not press got to race, only the steward presses that just so there's no confusion.

Pre-season race has just finished.

Other than a couple of issues at the start, it went pretty well. No incidents that I'm aware of.

Basically to anyone that is unaware of what happened, we had some confusion regarding stewarding and who was to be doing it. Also once qualification ended someone didn't hear the 5 minutes message and started up the race - which resulted in someone getting a DSQ for not moving from the grid for a lap.

So a restart happened, with a OSQ session then the race. Unfortunately a couple had to leave based on the later finishing time (It was going on 9pm at this point.) So only 6 of us started the race, with no steward in the end.

So, he is a breakdown of how it will work next week.

7:45pm - Lobby opens.
8:00pm - 15 minute qualification starts.
8:15pm - 5 minute break to sort strategy, go to the bathroom, smoke etc.
8:20pm - Race start.

In the event of a disconnect (NB; not a rage quit), or other unusual circumstances in the first few laps, then a restart with a OSQ session may occur, this will also include the 5 minute break before the race.

Also, if you have a mic, could you please use it. You don't have to speak if you don't want to, just so that messages from myself or whomever is stewarding can easily be relayed between members.

Other than that, it looks like it could be a good season for AL3. RosstheIcon dominated at Silverstone, so is definitely going to be in with a shot for the title. Will-I-Am-3001 also had good pace. What will surely be the mid pack also seem to be relatively close to each other, so something good should be able to happen there. Thanks to everyone who took part, everyone got in the lobby nice and early and if it weren't for the confusion/restart it would have been a perfect race.

Yeah I lost connection and froze, so when does the season league start?

The first race is next Friday, the 16th.

quick question, how come most of the races are set to 'clear' rather than 'dynamic'?

in the season the race is set to dynamic your race tonight was only a practice

I didn't actually set what the weather for each of the races was going to be on the calendar, that was down to Bolokov. I believe it's based on what the weather was actually like for the 2012 (irl) race. IE if it was a 100% clear race, then we get a clear race, and if there was a bit of rain, it gets set to dynamic.

I'm not entirely sure though, hopefully Bolokov can clarify.
